We are Austin and Lucas and we have poured our experience and personalities into
On the Rocks to create the authentic seaside dining experience.

AUSTIN GOSLING

I started my career at the Boathouse in Preston before moving to Australia to work at the Pepper Lounge. After two years I returned to the UK, to London, where

I honed my skills in the kitchens of the Mandeville Hotel and Brett Graham’s acclaimed Michelin 2-star restaurant The Ledbury.
I then served as head chef for Premier Crew before taking on the same role at the White Horse in Chichester.

LUCAS BURGESS

I was formerly the manager of the Boathouse in Preston before taking a detour into accountancy. Now I’m back doing what I love best.

Together, we have consolidated our experiences and brought them back home to Torbay with a simple mission: to bring quality, locally sourced ingredients back to our kitchens and put them together – with an On the Rocks twist – to create an exceptional menu.

With an idyllic location on Torquay seafront, we aim to cultivate a laid back charm and a community feel that only a true owner-run restaurant bar can deliver.
